Dishwasher will nor drain

Dishwasher will not drain. At the end of the cycle there is still soapy water at the bottom. I pushed the Cancel button to drain and it doesn’t.

Check if there is power to the dishwasher. What is the complete model number of the dishwasher?

I am reviving this thread because my search came up pretty empty for ideas.

Maytag MDB6600AWS installed 2004 with no issues except door handles and now this.

We use Cascade, Publix, Generic gel for several years with no issues until last week. Only fill one side of reservoir so I don’t think over soaping is problem.

Have heavy foam in bottom. Think about a kids bathtub with bubble bath after a rinse down

Only user issue of late is I found one half of a rigid plastic sipping straw. I have to believe the unit chewed up the straw down to half size. Would plastic shards / debris impact pump down enough to leave foam ?

If I have to tear down the bottom agitator spinner section, any suggestions before I ruin something ?

Hello,

There are two most common causes for foam and/or bubbles inside a dishwasher. They are: 1. spilled rinse aid or broken rinse aid dispenser and 2. hand washing detergent not rinsed completely after prewash or accidentally filled into the dispenser.

You can try to add 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil to break the soap up and run the dishwasher a few times to wash it out. You also may want to use a product called Dishwasher Magic to clean the sediments and sanitize the dishwasher.

Gene, thanks for suggestions. I had not considered regular dishwashing or liquid handsoap finding its way into the washer as a problem. Certainly possible since we almost always are handwashing in the sink and in the automatic dishwasher.

We don’t use rinse aid so that shouldn’t be an issue.

I’ll see if it washes through in the next couple cycles and see where it goes from there.
