Our Kithchen AId KUDS01IJBS0 stopped working mid-cycle with a strong burning smell. No LED lights come on at all, but power does come to the machine. I suspected motor, but it is clean and turns freely. Next I looked for thermal fuse, and it had charred plastic all around, but still tested good. I replaced it and the ECU, which also showed signs of charring. Still no change. No lights, no nothing. I can trace power to the ECU. What’s next? The touch pad? How can I test for that before I spend $150? Or do we buy a new dishwasher?
I just installed a whole new switch panel, and nothing. No lights no reaction to pushing buttons. I can still trace 120V to the ECU in 2 places P2-6 and P8.
What if my new ECU is bad? How could I test it? Please help, I’m getting very frustrated.
An electronic schematics of the board is not available so basically all you can check is if it is getting power.
Next I would check the keypad/control panel with the meter.
This is probably a long shot as it should give an error if you have a stuck key locking the unit up. Perhaps you have a stuck key but the LED for that key is shot.

I have tried a new keypad panel, but I still had no result. No button did anything and no lights came on.
What else could cause all the lights to stay out? Anything else that could have burned? I saw charring around the ECU, thermal fuse and LCD readout, but I’m not sure that couild have caused all the burning smell we encountered.
Burn up problems are a pain unless you can isolate what caused the initial problem and many times this is difficult to say the least.
Also trying to repair/troubleshoot bad wiring and connectiopns can take a huge amount of time.
Many times as you have decided it is not worth all the effort and time.
