This unit went belly up about a month ago. Upon initial inspection, the motor was frozen and the drain solenoid was melted. I ordered the replacement motor, installed it easily, and ran a cycle. When the drive motor engaged, so did the solenoid. And the solenoid remained energized throughout every part of the wash cycle. It only de-energized when the timer reached the dry part of the cycle. Thinking that the timer was bad and was the cause of the failure of the original motor, I replaced the timer also. The new timer has the same issue. The solenoid is energized throughout the entire cycle. I have done a visual inspection to see if a wire is open and has created a short, thus constantly energizing the solenoid, but have had negative results.
I am seeking any information regarding further troubleshooting or even locating a service manual. I need to make the decision to either continue on or give up the ghost on this unit. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Sounds like there is a reversed polarity at the dishwasher power connection.
Remove the toe panel and check the power cord connection at the junction box. Make sure the black wire from the power cord is connected to the dishwashers black wire.
Measure the voltage between the black wire from the power cord and the dishwasher chassis. The correct reading suppose to be about 120 VAC.

I checked the connections as you instructed and everything is as it should be. Also checked for the ~120 VAC from the power to the chassis and all is good there too. Any other suggestions?
What exactly am I checking for at the rocker switch? The connectors look good and clean. This switch is for the heated dry. How does it affect the drain solenoid? Thanks for the assistance.

P.S. Do you have the wiring diagram for the dishwasher? Usually it’s located under the dishwasher tub on the right side. If you do, then post it.

i am having this same issue, I’ve read that replacing the timer works, but I want to make sure. Was the original problem ever resolved?
