I have a leak on the back side of the plastic piece of the pump drain valve arm that hold the bar to make the valve go up and down when the solenoid engages. It only leaks when the arm is in the down position. I cannot see it very well but it appears to be coming from the back side where the piece is next to the drain pump. I tried to tighten the screws holding the lever but they would not budge.
Do I need to replace the whole drain pump or is there a seal on the back side going into the pump that I can replace?
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it.
Take a picture or make a diagram where the springs etc go.
Get a new seal (Item 417 in Section 3) and a push on nut (Item 415 in Section 3). If you click on a part’s picture a new page will open often with better views and a Q&A.
Remove the solenoid and the seal. Take note which way they go on.
If the flapper valve shaft and/or seal seat has calcium build up, clean it.
A light coating of grease will make the seal install smoother.
Thanks for the prompt response and the suggestion. I appreciate you’re supplying the part number too. I’ll order the parts and report back on the results.
Your recommended fix was a success. The only challange I had was getting the old push-on nut off the shaft. I ended up just cutting it with snip’s. Your suggestion to take a picture first was also a big help when putting it back together to make sure I had the plastic lever facing the correct way.
Thanks again for your excellent help, it is much appreciated.
You are welcome.
I am glad to hear that you were successful.
And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause.
