Dishwasher Leak from bottom of door in front

I have a leak that just started on a Fridgedair dishwasher that seems to be coming from the bottom of the door.

The unit is 100% level.

It only leaks when the jets are running full blast.

It looks like there is a seal along the bottom of the door. Should this seal run the whole length of the door?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Open the dishwasher door as soon as you see water leak and check for any suds or bubbles inside. Post the results.

Hi Gene,

it happens when I run it without any soap or dishes at all in the washer. The gasket at the bottom of the door, is that typically adjustable? I’ve found other posts on adjusting the lower door gasket resolving this issue.

Jeff

Jeff,

The lower door gasket is not adjustable. It’s recommended by the manufacturer to replace it. The instructions are attached to the reply.

Not sure if I should brink up my issue as a reply or start a new thread?
I too have a unit leaking at the bottom of the door. Close inspection reveals dry fittings on intake, outlet and drain hoses. Dripping is coming from BENEATH the door where the electrical wires enter…and will increase it’s rate if I press on the area surrounding where the wires penetrate.

Is this the lower seal also?

THANKS in advance for your assistance!

Ray,

What is the complete model number of the dishwasher?

THANKS for your reply Gene…the model # is a Kitchenaid KUDR25SHWH0.

It is right where the electrical harness enters the bottom of the door…difficult to further identify w/o mirror…

There are two spots where the leak is more possible: the soap dispenser and the door vent. Remove the inner door panel and check for water marks inside. Post the results.

removal of the OUTER door panel was exceeding easier and did reveal water dripping from both door vent and soap dispenser when running the unit.
review of the diagrams reveal a rubber gasket ring (#9)…I don’t seem to see that when removing the grill…also please verify the veins should be oriented upwards / that the split in the ring should be at the 6 o’clock. I assume the gasket is applied beneath the grill? If that gasket doesn’t get stop the water from the vent, I’m not sure how to remove/replace that vent? By removing the INNER Panel…and if so, is there a trick on how to handle the latch assembly when removing the inner panel?
What causes the soap dispenser to leak? I don’t see a gasket? Would the application of a bead of silicone work? It appears the dispenser is removable from the exterior beneath the control panel.
At least by removing the exterior panel, I can see why the water was coming out from where the electrical runs thru the stiffiner…actually, the water would accumulate in the grids of the stiffiner before dripping out.
anxious to hear back from ya as I’m planning to stay up here (100 miles away from home) thru monday…
THANKS a lot Gene

no problem…those instructions should do the trick. would you agree that BOTH units developed a leak at the same time?

any tricks to replacing either the vent or dispensor

Lastly…the top nut on the lower spray arm…should that have strong plastic ‘shoulders’ across the top of that nut. the one on their now has a very weak/appears to have been rubbed down to almost nothing.

thanks again Gene

It is possible.

Nothing special. Just follow the instructions and use common sense.

As long as it holds the spray arm in place it’s fine.

Hey Gene,
finally able to get back up to the mountains and effect the repair. Have to admit putting the handle rod was a challenge…but didn’t see any leaks.

Still not sure why the soap dispensor was leaking…that gasket seemed just fine other than a bit of calcium buildup. I’d have thought a bead of silicone would have done the trick?

Anyway, the new on is in…what to do w/the old one? It is worth anything…eg replace that gasket??? didn’t run a continuity test across the terminals.

thanks again Gene…you saved me a bunch of $$$

Yulp I have the same problem! And Here is what the problem is- the end of the replacement gasket, Manual part 49, if you notice, is a straight cut plastic edge. The original part has a gasket on that edge therefore sealing off the bottom outside edges stopping the leak. at the moment I am searching for an original gasket design. If I happen to find one I will post a link.

I have the same problem and want to repair it myself. I found the right gasket, but need help repemoving old installing newand Can anyone help?

I too have a Frigidaire FDBB4365FBO leaking from the bottom front door. Initial thought was gasket, because there is a gap in the gasket/seal - but the photo of a new one reveals the same gap in the middle. What else can I check? Machine is only about 3-4 years old.

Besides the door gasket around the frame there is another, bottom, gasket (#49 on the diagram).

The replacement instructions are attached to the reply.

My Frigidaire dishwashwer was leaking, and after removing the front panel I could tell that water was getting past the bottom door seal. So I replaced it, and it’s no longer leaking. However, I can see that water is still getting past the bottom door seal, just not enough that it actually exits the bottom lip. See video: https://goo.gl/photos/bX4ky5E58c3nR8RM8

Is that normal?
