Dishwasher door won't latch

I try to close the dishwasher door but the latch hits the inside of the door. It looks like the black part inside the door is stuck. I’m far from an expert on dishwashers and I can’t seem to find the book that came with it. No matter if I change the settings the door still will not latch shut. This dishwasher is 2 years old

Does the door latch strike go into the slot in the door?

Make sure there is nothing in the upper dish rack goes between the frame and the door.
