The handle of the dishwasher is embedded up into the upper aspect of the dishwasher and although I can jiggle it down closer into it’s normal spot, it never engages. The dishwasher will therefore not close or run. I don’t know if this is a handle or a latch problem.

You will have to remove the inside door panel to see what is going on.
Also check that the srike (latch) on the upper tub frame is OK.
