The Sears repairman was out today to repair my Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher. He said the control board was fried and needed to be replaced. The charge, including labor would have been over $300. My son thinks we can do this repair ourselves if we can trust that the entire problem is just a fried control board. Can the problem just be a control board replacement or do other parts generally need to be replaced also? Can I trust that the repairman told me the entire extent of the problem? Thanks.
See the attachment for the tech sheet, perhaps info on it will help you determine what the problem is.
Pull the control board and check it for any signs of overheating or blown parts.

Yes it could be just the control board but could also be that a bad part blew the board.

Since I do not know the repairman, his competency or what he did to troubleshoot the problem I cannot say.
