So the control board on this oven is part touch screen and a bank of blister buttons. Over time we noticed that the main screen would be light for no apparent reason, then after some time it would go back to sleep. There is some sort of proximity sensor that lights the screen when you get near. NOW, it stays lit ALL THE TIME and about every 20 seconds it beeps, as if one of the buttons is stuck constantly sending signal. In this “mode” it is not allowing any other input. So imagine your ESC key stuck down on your CPU keyboard.
I have removed the entire powerhead and control face, I have checked and rechecked ALL the connection points, I have powered down and rebooted repeatedly and the end result is always the same. After one reboot I was able to start the oven, but it canceled it’s self after just a few seconds.
The screens are clean as a whistle, no dents or scratches. (only 6 years old) there is nothing obvious that is signaling the control board.
I am at wits end. There are NO GE parts specific to this problem. I think the touch screen is fine, perhaps one of the outboard buttons is stuck. And that array of buttons is poured/molded onto the control head.
I had a local appliance company that was going to help me, then we took a direct hit from a CAT5 Hurricane (Michael) last October. Everything has been chaos ever since. Things are normal enough now I would like to get this problem solved. My ovens are FINE, it’s the “Hi Tech” that is failing me, again. I wish I had knobs.
Any help would be very appreciated.
