Brand: GE
Model Number: JGB660SEJ4SS
Main Symptom: Delayed ignition with a loud bang and sometimes a gas smell
What happens & when:
The issue is intermittent. Sometimes while heating the oven with the “Bake” setting, it will take a very long time. After a while, there will be a loud bang as the oven finally ignites. In the worst case, the bang is very loud and gas can be smelled in the kitchen.
The igniter always visibly glows right away. There are no issues when using the “Broil” function or the stovetop burners.
My best theory is the igniter is heating up too slowly, or fluctuating in temperature, causing issues with gas flow. Any other suggestions?
Error Code (if any): N/A
Parts or tests already tried: Ordered a new igniter but has not arrived yet
