Parts or tests already tried: I just bought a new defrost timer for this model and it has a wire coming off it that the old one does not and I do not know what to do with that.

The black wire goes to terminal 2 on the Timer!

Iā€™m also replacing the thermostat on this. Do the wires on the old one disconnect from their connections or do I cut and splice?

if your talking about the defrost termination thermostat? Cut and splice!
