Which thermostat did you replace? the freezer thermostat or the evaporator defrost themostat

Hi, replaced the thermostat that

connects directly to the heater

element. Is there a second thermostat in the freezer?

yes there is a second one that feeds to the control board (GE WR50X10081 Refrigerator Sensor Asm Ff | Genuine OEM Part)

That sensor does not show on the freezer diagram and is discontinued. And, ApplianceParts says that it did not apply to our refrigerator.

I have attached a copy of the service manual for reference

GSF25IGXBB 31-51790-1 (1).pdf (449.0 KB)

2 sensors in freezer and 1 sensor in refrig have been replaced

Another question. Have been told by GE that the existing defrost thermostat is replaced by a new ice maker. Does anyone know if the existing thermostat in the freezer needs to be taken out of the circuit and if so, how is it done?

Still looking for an answer to this question. Any one?

What is the complete Model number???

GSH22JFXMWW, serial # HT230538

This thermistor that is mounted on the evaporator is what going to sense when to defrost or cool!

I guess you replace this? Defrost Over temperature Thermostat WR50X10068.This
Thermistor WR55X10025 This Defrost Heater WR51X10101

I have replaced that thermistor along with the second one in the freezer and the one connected to the damper in the refrig. Could I have a faulty one?

If it’s a OEM part highly unlikely. That main board I guess you bought is a rebuilt one. i see they no longer make it new!

The thermistor was an GE part, the control board was a used part. Do you know about the ice maker replacing the defrost thermostat? According to GE this is correct, question: does the freezer thermostat need to be taken out of the control circuit when you do this replacement?

So your thought is that it is the control board this is faulty?
