Dishwasher stays on wash cycle. I need some troubleshooting advice.
Thanks
Can you be more specific on the problem?
Gene.

I am sorry for being vague, the d/w is in my sister in laws home.
The way I understand it is that the d/w continues to wash in the wash cycle until you manually shut it off.
Could this be a temperature related issue? (heating element?)
Thanks,
Steve
Steve,
Did any light on the control panel blink? For long time it kept washing?
Gene.
no blinking lights!
I have the same problem. I’ve replaced all three thermostats on my Dishwasher: 154227805 THERMOSTAT -TEMP ASSURE; 154227806 THERMOSTAT - TEMP BOOST; and 154290204 THERMOSTAT - HI LIMIT. Nevertheless, I have the same problem. I thought the problem was the HI LIMIT Thermostat b/c I checked it on a multimeter and it said it was shorted, but the new one gave the same reading so maybe I’m doing something wrong. The dishwasher repeatedly gets stuck in a “heating delay.” Since the multimeter said the new HI LIMIT thermostat was shorted, does that mean it’s defective? I don’t know enough about these components to know whether or not some of them are designed to give contrary readings. Also, I should add that the water is getting hot and the dishwasher continues through it’s cycle as long as I don’t press the button for a hi-temp wash.
How long it’s been running?
Gene.
bonzai90210,
What is the complete model number of the dishwasher?
How long it sits on the “heating delay”?
Did you measure the water temperature inside the dishwasher before and after heating?
Gene.
Gene, thanks for responding. Its a Frigidaire FDB679GFC5. If I don’t turn off the “hi-temp” wash button or move the timer along, it seems like it will run forever. No, I haven’t measured the temperature of the water. I assumed that if the heating element was going out, the water wouldn’t be hot at all, but if I open it up when it’s stuck, it’s hot enough for steam to come pouring out. I guess I’ll measure the water temp the next time I do a wash.
Incoming water temperature suppose to be at least 120°F. If it is much less then, because the dishwasher heating system is pretty weak, it can take very long time to heat it up to the proper temperature.
As it says in the Owners manual: “When HI-TEMP WASH ON option is selected, the dishwasher heats water in main wash to approximately 140°F (60°C). Wash action will continue but timer will not advance until proper temperature is reached.”
