Have a Caloric Electronic Ignition gas stove/oven that came with the home I bought 22 years ago. The burners have to be lit manually (been doing that OK for a year or so) but now the oven does not heat evenly and seem to lose heat to the underneath ‘warmer’ section (which is used to store pans and kitchen items). Along with the burner ignitors, another item to be replaced is the rubber seal/tubing along the oven door wall (expands and droops when oven is on). The last use of the oven generated enough heat below the oven, it melted the plastic mixer. My question is whether parts are easily accessable for a repair to make sense. Will my $100 service call plus parts (what am I looking at for $$ total?) and labor be a good way to go? How servicable are these units and is doing so on one this old (25 years old) worth it?
Among the problems with your range, the problem with the oven temperature insulation is the most important and dangerous. The worst thing about this problem is - it’s not repairable. Looks like it’s time for a new range.
