The right front dual level burner on my Maytag electric stove went out. I provided the model and serial number, and ordered the part number recommended by Appliance Parts Pros. Upon disassembly of my stove top, I found that the replacement part does not have the same electrical connections as the existing burner. These differences include:

  1. The existing burner has no light; new burner does (blue wire)

  2. the 3 upper terminals on the existing burner have 3 terminals; the new burner only has two and they are not in the same order as the existing.

  3. Effectively, the new lower terminal block only has two terminals; the existing lower terminal block has 4 (although one goes to the upper terminal block, black wire, and apparently the new element has a direct connection from the lower to the upper terminal block, but not in the same order as the original).

The oven is a Maytag model MER6872BAW, serial 15069119AN, and the replacement part for the right front dual level burner is (W10823709).

Is this the correct part and I am missing something, or is this the wrong part, given the differences in electrical connections?

This is the correct element used with the model. The manufacturer has made some changes in terminal positioning but it is correct. Using the wire extensions that came with the element, this image shows where each wire would be transferred to. The blue wire going to the connected light can be disconnected if the original light that is detached is working. If not, the second wire extension can be used to connect the tan wire to the open terminal on the attached light.
