Our Kitchen Aid Cooktop (Glass, 5-burner, gas) has a knob on it that won’t turn. It feels like something is stuck but none of us can figure out what is wrong with it and we haven’t used it for quite awhile. Do you have any suggestions?

Unless the knob is just physically jammed up some how, the problem is likely in the burner gas valve itself.
Those valves can seize up or break internally. If it is, the affected valve should be replaced. The aluminum valves can not usually be repaired and should not even be attempted by anyone other than a licensed gas appliance service technician.
Depending on which exact burner valve is affected, a replacement valve may not even be available any longer. The only one that is (see the following link) looks to be for the right front burner or for the left rear burners.

Hi,
We just ordered the part you suggested and we are wondering if you have any suggestions for installation. It happens to be the front, right burner that won’t turn so your part was perfect!
We just want to know how to get to the replacement location. Is it underneath?
Thanks,
Joanne
Most often a cooktop has to be removed from the counter top for service.
Just to check for leaks with a bubble leak detector before putting into service after the repair. And of course, turn off the gas and disconnect the power before you start!

So, thanks to your great guidance we bought the right part and replaced it and our burner works again. Thank you very much.
In taking the cooktop apart the guys discovered that a pin was missing from the center back burner, and that was why the automatic igniter would not work. Do you sell those pins?
Glad to hear it.
What kind of ‘pin’? If the spark electrode, it is available at the following link:

If we borrow this straight metal pin from one burner and insert it into the other the igniter works. Does anyone sell just the pin?
I’m afraid I do not know what part you might be describing. There are no other items close to that description listed in the parts list.
One service manual for a different model mentions a “Venturi Pin” but I am not familiar with that myself and there is no such item listed in your model’s parts list. Sorry.
