Conversion of GE cooktop to Propane

I’d like to convert this GE cooktop to propane but it is not clear what parts I need to buy and I couldn’t find a “conversion kit” in the parts list the way they are for some other models.

if your range has a drawer, check behind the drawer. you will have to pull the drawer all the way out to see behind it. Most ranges came with a conversion kit from the factory. You will have to replace all of the burner orifices for the proper flame, at least for the cook top. Not all ovens are converted in this manner…you will have to get some tech info for oven conversion

Thanks for the response. It is a cooktop, not a range, and the conversion kit is missing.
I know I need new orifices but I don’t know if I need anything else. I found the on-line parts diagram and associated parts list to be confusing and possible incomplete. It was not, and is not, clear to me which orifices I need the buy (the specific part number) nor the quantity.

And what the heck is a “spud” and why is there a regular “spud” and an “lp spud”??

WARNING Please be sure to close the gas shut off valve and disconnect power prior to the appliance before doing any work.

To convert your cooktop model number JGP963WEK2WW to propane you will need to replace the following:

( 2 ) AP2026919
Purchase two of these orifices to cover the Right Rear and Center burner.

( 1 ) AP3793136
Purchase one of these orifices to cover the Left Front burner.

( 1 ) AP3792977
Purchase one of these orifices to cover the Left Rear burner.

( 1 ) AP2626673
Purchase one of these orifices to cover the Right Front burner.

You will also need to make changes to the pressure regulator by unscrewing the brass nut on top as you see in the photo to reveal the pin. Take care when removing the nut because the spring inside could shoot out with the pin. Reverse the pin replacing the spring and brass nut.

you have located the correct parts already…“spud” is the natural gas orifice…“lp spud” is the propane orifice. lp is for liquified petroleum…ie propane…you need 1 for each burner…each burner should have a btu rating on it. also refer to the message about the regulator adjustment

When it comes to safety can we really rely in propane conversions rather than using the natural method? Well it was really a question for me. My dad would also answer the same inquiry but still, I can’t understand. With regards to this, there’s a website I saw and I think they somehow have tips there. i checked the site, and for me, its pretty legit. But purchase the kit on your own risk
