The convection fan has always been intermittent and even when it worked, it spun so slow, that I doubt it had any affect. How fast should it spin? What would cause it to spin slow and be intermittent?

Check if the fan blade is rotating absolutely free and do not stuck on any surrounding objects.If the shaft turns with some resistance - replace the motor AP6011233
