I recently replaced the controller board in my Hotpoint fridge. The new board is configured slightly different which is explained as normal in the accompanying instructions. The new board has a green wire which is labled continuity tester that runs from the top to bottom of the board and is connected via male and female connectors ( i.e. assembled for possible removal). The top connector has a second wire attached with an open circular connector crimped to the open end. The instructions mention nothing about these wires. Is this extra wire a ground which should connect to one of the sheetmetal cover screws? The old board did not have these wires. The unit runs fine wheter the wire is attached or not.
