Control panel cooling fan and interior light run continually

My Jenn-air dual-fuel range/oven is constantly running the cooling fan (not the convection fan and not the exhaust fan) and the interior oven light will not turn off. I was having problems with the touch control pad and replaced it. That triggered the above issues as well as the problem of not being able to turn on the downdraft exhaust fan. I posted a thread on another repair forum with paid “professional technical” advisors and they recommended I replace the heat sensor. Did that AND the clock panel - no change. Any suggestions.?

You may want to start the troubleshooting from verifying the proper connection of the membrane switch ribbon cable to the control board.

Using a magnifying glass, check the ribbon cable for a hairline cracks.

What is the part number of the new membrane switch you installed?

I would not be surprised if the new part is defective.

Gene.

P.S. The heat sensor has nothing to do with this problem. No doubt about it.

The part number is 695608 which is the entire front touch panel for the range. The ribbon connection looks fine to me. I have emailed the seller to see if an exchange is possible. This seems to be the cause of the “fan” switch not working, but even without the control panel connected to the range the interior light stays on and the cooling fan runs! I tried taking the light door switch off and swapping it with the one on my wall oven (same switch I noticed) and it still runs. The fan and light problem developed when I changed out the touch control panel - but I do not feel the control panel is the cause. Maybe time to retire this one!

The cause can be a shorted relays on the relay board (#29 on the diagram).

I guess I am doubtful about spending any more money on this unit at this point. I have about 400.00 in parts/shipping already invested. If I knew this would fix the unit I would try it - but so far nothing has worked.

Very likely it will fix it (with the exchanged control panel) but I can not guarantee it 100%.

Anyway there is the win-win situation for you because if you will order the new relay board from Appliance Parts Pros and it would not fix it, you can easy return it because of their very friendly return policy.

I have a Jennair svd48600bc dual fuel with exact issues as dagrove2146…only i have replaced clock contol unit, membrane switch, and both relay boards on the back! I’m into it over $700 and getting ready to set it on the railroad tracks.

What’s up and what’s the fix? I have purchased parts at a couple places including AppliancePartsPros.com

Gary,

You may want to check how the range is wired in. Make sure it is connected to electricity according to the Installation instructions and you have good ground and neutral at the outlet as well as at the range terminal block.

Gene.

Thanks Gene…

I’m Wondering How That Might Be An Issue, If The Stove Has Been In The Same Spot For 13 Years?

We are not talking about location of the range. We are talking about the wires, connectors and circuit breakers.

Gene.

Okay…

I Will Check The Outlet For Power Readings, But I Guess I Don’t Understand How After Functioning Properly For 13 Years, The Wires, Connectors, Or Circuit Breaker Connections Could Change?

Just because nothing last forever and all this stuff brakes too.

Gene.

SO GENE…

YOU MUST STILL HAVE dagrove2146 AS A CONTACT VIA EMAIL…IS IT POSSIBLE TO FIND OUT IF HE WAS EVER SUCCESSFUL IN REMEDYING HIS ISSUES WITH HIS STOVE? IT SEEMS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT SO MANY OF THESE STOVES WITH IDENTICAL ISSUES MIGHT HAVE A COMMON REPAIRABLE FAULT.

I WAS TOLD ON ANOTHER SITE TO “replace the J2 harness and install additional Ferrite bead(s) on the harness at the new relay board”…COULD THIS BE THE ANSWER?

STILL LOOKING FOR THE FIX,
GARY

Gene

I Seem To Have Lost My Way Back To Where We Were…do You Still Have Contact With Dagrove2146…what Was The Outcome Of His Efforts?

It Seems That So Many Of The Same Models Having The Exact Issues Would Indicate A Common Fault And Resulting Common Fix…

Gary

Gary,

I do not have any access to anybody profiles. Only the forum admins have such access. He did not post any feedbacks yet.

Gene.

Thank You

I Will Move On With Suggested Fixes And Post You.

Gary

I found the solution and I beleive that Gene mentioned this fix.

1.) Turn Power off to range.

2.) I removed the front control panel from the range, and exposed the circuit board directly behind the touch pad membrane.

3.) I removed the ribbon connections running from the control board to the touchpad screen on the front.

4.) Took alcohol (rubbing not Vodka) and a Q-tip and cleaned both sides of the ribbon that fit into the connection on the board. (App. 1")

5.) Replaced the ribbon when dry, re-installed panel, turned on power and WORKING!

6.) Cheap fix ($0.00) and takes 30 - 45 minutes.

Hope this info helps - Jamie!
