Main Symptom: Doesn’t Cool, Dispenser Lights Flash, and Ice Flapper Keeps flapping
What happens & when: It started that my daughter noticed she couldn’t get water and the dispenser panel wouldn’t respond to pushing any buttons and started to warm up inside. I disconnected the power for about 10-15 seconds, reconnected it and it started working. The next morning, it did it again. This time when I reconnected the power, the display lit up normal (it was previously lit normal when it wouldn’t respond), but it still wouldn’t respond to pressing any buttons. I then disconnected the power for 15 minutes and upon reconnecting it, the ice flapper was opening and closing repeatedly and the lights on the display were flashing. I believe it is the main control board (W10890094, but before I spend that much money, I would like confirmation if possible. Also, the Program Code for our refrigerator is 1412.

That’s going to be the main control board.
Make sure that model # doesn’t have a revision code at the end of it when looking for the board, it makes a huge difference. If it doesn’t have a revision code but the serial # starts with numbers instead of letters you would use the 1st 2 #s as your revision code.
Per the information I have, code 1412 is for the AFI2538AES12 which uses control board WPW10310240.
W10890094 would be used for AFI2538AES, but that version of this model would have code 03 or 003 on the model/serial plate.

Thanks. That is interesting that the code and model of the fridge don’t seem to match. I’ve attached the photo of the tag and the old board. I have already replaced this board once several years ago for what I believe was the same problem, but I can’t remember for certain and I can’t seem to find my order to make sure I get the same board. I thought I ordered it from you last time, but maybe not.

That serial # starts with 12 so this would be AFI2538AES12, so you’ll need WPW10310240. Happens all the time with these, so I wanted to save you some time and confusion trying to get the correct board.
