I am working on a GE SXS refrigerator and have a problem. Originally had ice buildup in the ice dispinse chute, replaced the solenoid & flap and my problem was solved. Now 4 months later I have water condensation on the outside of the flap dripping into the tray in the door. I checked and the solenoid is working fine so I installed a new flap again and still have this problem. Please help, thank you.

I know this was posted in 2012 but i’m having this same exact problem, I replaced the water valve thinking it was the water dispenser, but after taking the dispenser apart, I see that it’s condensation around the ice dispenser chute and water dispenser line. I called GE and they told me that air is getting in the freezer somehow and to level the refridgerater backwards a little bit so the doors close more tightly, obviously it didn’t fix the problem.
P.S. The ice chute is closed so i know thats not the problem.
Apparently, there is a heater in the door in and around the space for the ice/water dispenser and it can fail over time. I think you must replace the door for a complete fix; however, I came up with an inelegant hack for this common problem with GE SXS refrigerators.
I have placed (at least) 1" foam insulation on the inside of the door just below the ice dispensing hole. So, I attached it with spray adhesive on the sloped section of the door and just below that section that corresponded with the areas that were “sweating” with condensation that I observed during partial disassembly of the door control panel.
If you use the spray adhesive to attach the foam insulation, you must turn the fridge off for a while to get the inside door section to room temperature for the adhesive to work. Even if you use boxing tape to attach the foam insulation for a trial run, it must be at room temp to stick.
