Compressor Warranty

Hi. Our refrigerator stopped cooling and according to the technician who came, we need a new compressor. He ordered one for us, Whirlpool W10309990, and I am wondering what the warranty is on the compressor.
Our super tells me that compressor warranties are usually 5 years in length, but the receipt I got from the repair company says that they warranty compressors only for 1 year. Shouldn’t the warranty actually be from Whirlpool? The compressor didn’t come with a manual, so I’m not sure where to find this information. Does anyone know?

Also, if the compressor does break within the warranty period, can I contact Whirlpool directly? This repair company has been awful (supposed to be Sears, but think they subcontracted to A&E), so I’d like to have the option of using someone else next time.

Hi.

Check you owners manual for warranty information. It differs depend on the manufacturer. But the minimum complete warranty should be no less then one year. Call Whirlpool Customer service to verify this info.

Thank you.
