Commercial fridge heating up

Hi all,

A commercial True T-49 fridge at our church just started blowing hot air.

Pulled off the overload, and it checks out fine. Checked the compressor terminals, and I read 6 ohms on terminals R to S, 1 ohm on terminals R to C, and 5.0 ohms on terminals C to R, so they add up (but seem low?).

But when I check the start relay, it seems bad. When I check from terminals S to L, I get a short, then when I turn the relay over I get open. And when I measure S to M OR when I measure L to M, I get open all the time, even when I turn the relay over. So, bad relay, right? It is a 3ARR2 KCR181S. Can’t seem to find one anywhere. Thoughts?

Thanks so much!!

If you’re on a commercial refrigerator troubleshooting call and the compressor is running with low amp draw, low suction pressure, and low discharge pressure, you may have a low charge, or a restricted liquid line, drier, or metering device. Check the superheat and subcooling, and make the necessary repairs.

That has nothing to do with what I said…
It was the start relay and capacitor, by the way.

I have no idea about your post.
