Niether the broil nor bake elements in my oven are working, though everything else seems to be fine…Based on what I’ve read so far, I’m pretty sure I need to check the thermal fuse, but I’ll be damned if I can find the thing…I’ve only taken the outermost panel off the back - do I need to dig deeper? I can’t find a whirlpool parts diagram for this model that shows the shutdown cutoff…Any help would be appreciated!

See the attachment for the wiring diagram.
The wiring diagram does not show a cut-off so odds are that the unit does not have one.
Check the wiring and if OK the control board may be toast.
I am assuming that the stove top elements work OK and that when you go into bake mode the unit never comes ready.
If it does come ready right away it may be the oven sensor is faulty.

It does have a 15 amp breaker behind the control Panel. You might want to check it. It is #3, on the control panel diagram. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
Yes, the stove top elements work fine, and everything is fine with the display, timers, everything - no error messages…I can even hear the usual ‘click’ that suggests the element(s) should be cycling on…but the broil element does not glow, and there is absolutely no heat generated…it appears as though I may have to call someone in…
Breakers in the control panel appear to be exclusively for the outlets at the top of the range…

After re-reading your reply, I’m not sure how I would tell if the oven has “come ready” as opposed to never doing so…could the click that I am hearing be the shut down command, occuring before it even really fires up? I assume by “oven sensor” you are refering to the “Safety Oven Sensor” (Part 8 on the Oven Parts diagram)…When I took the rear panel off, this part was a little charred on the back…Is there any way to test this part myself before giving my local service guys a call?
I see part 8 listed as “Oven Temperature Sensor Probe” ande it is tha part I was referring to.
It senses the temperature in the oven by changing resistance and then the control board turns the elements on/off using this info.
Where did you get the “Safety Oven Sensor” description as this sort of indicates a thermal cut-off and not a temperature sensor?
Usually ovens have a light etc. that tells you when the oven is ready.
Sometimes the light turns off and on some units it turns on.
The clicking you hear could be the control relays but if you look at the wiring diagram you will see a “Double Line Break Relay” and if it does not close power is cut to both elements.
Here is a good site with basic oven repair info.
