Symptom: Unit runs about 30 minutes, shuts off, and displays Eb.

Most likely issue: Start with the bucket detection system. GE’s published guidance for this exact model says an Eb code can be caused by the bucket not being detected/seated correctly. Remove and empty the bucket, inspect the float/bucket area for anything preventing proper seating, reinstall it firmly, then unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes and retry.

If Eb returns after ~30 minutes, especially with the bucket correctly installed, there are reports on this exact model pointing to an evaporator temperature sensor/thermistor fault.

Recommended diagnosis:

  1. Verify bucket and float operation/seating.
  2. Perform 5-minute power reset.
  3. Run and monitor for Eb.
  4. If Eb consistently returns after warming/running ~30 minutes, suspect the evaporator thermistor/sensor or its wiring rather than the bucket itself.

GE’s guidance is to contact service if the code returns after the bucket/reset checks.
