The washer sounded like a train and became unbalanced on spin cycles. I knew it was the tub bearing as I had changed one before, and knew I didn’t want to wait until more damage was done to the machine to do it too. Ordered the part and tool, found a weekend and changed the bearings, shaft and seal. Everything went back together well, all the connections look good.
Now the stater is making a ticking noise, and there is no agitation at all in the drum. It fills up way too high, then drains for a very long time giving a SD error code (no suds, just too much water). We pulled the stater cover off and rechecked it, looks fine. Wires are all good and sensor is in good condition. We pulled the agitator off and rechecked it. Hub is good, a little worn but not bad. Drum will spin freely when hub is not screwed down, then will freeze as soon as those screws are tight. Somehow the main shaft is stuck and we are not sure what to do next to fix it.
Any advice as to what to do or what part to check?
i have a side question. how do you know its the bearing and not the gearcase?
Guest,
We would need a model number to properly assist. In most cases, if you have a Cabrio it would not have a gearcase and would have a bearing repair kit but that is why we need to have the model number.
The model number is WTW8500BW0
We took apart the stater and cover and re-inspected it. Now it will agitate but not spin. Seriously off balance, so I might try suspension rods. I also can’t seem to get it to reset or show codes. Videos all show a different process and nothing seems to work for this machine.
