Someone would need to confirm if power was getting to the element or not. Power there but not working = defective element (or defective element limiter which is not available separately).

That is controlled by the element limiter. The indicator staying on even when not hot would point to a problem in the element limiter… which might also be responsible for the heating problem.

My 3-yr old GE profile smooth top range has the same issue. The hot surface indicator is always on, the burner doesn’t work anymore. If I turn it on, the “on” light turns on, but not heats up.
The rest of the burners work fine.
If it is the limiter’s issue, can I find the part, and replace it by myself?
