Burner does not regulate heat

When turned on, regardless of setting, Front right 7" burner stays full on. I have not left it on long enough to see if the thermal cutoff will turn it off as I do not want to fracture the glass.

My question is, does this seem to indicate that the burner itself (AP4096980) is defective or the dial switch (AP4101376) controlling the burner? I can test the switch by using one of the other two switches but not the burner components as it is a single unit. Will that help to pinpoint the problem? Thank you, Jerry.

The element heat setting is controlled by the switch. If it can not be controlled and only stays on full power, the switch is defective and needs to be replaced.

There is no failure an element can suffer that can cause it to stay on high continually. It is the switch that should be regulating its power supply.

=D~~~~~~

I swapped out the switch for my least used single element’s switch and the 7" is working again. I will order a replacement switch. Thanks again.
