Replaced heating element in 29 year old dryer this January. Worked fine until this week when no heat was entering the dryer tub. Found burned wire. This situation is similar to others, but no good response or no definitive one. One Pro named Doug had good advise, but then advised that the element be replaced. I have a 4 month old element. Contact was tight, wire burned off the end piece. Okay to re use wire if I remove the damaged end? See photo.

Unplug the unit and both wires from the element.
Measure across the element, should be around 8 to 12 ohms.
Then measure from each side of the element to the case, both should be infinite ohms.
If not the element is grounded and may have to be replaced.
If the element is OK then you can use the old wire but you have to cut it back until you have nice clean copper.
You will have to get a new high current connector and do a good crimp on it.
Also clean/check the connector at the element.
