Woke Up To Fridge Not Working. Unplgged It Then Plugged Back In, Trips The Gfi Every Time I Plug It Back In. Gfi Works With Other Things Though.
I also faced same problem. I brought a freeze from a site. I used it 3 months without any problem. As a used freeze after 3 months a faced same problem. I called a mechanic and then he solved it.You also can do it.
Try plugging it into a a non GFI outlet.
Does it work?
If yes then is the compressor and evaporator fan on?
If no then you are in a defrost cycle and odds are high that the problem is with the heater, defrost thermostat or the wiring is that area.
A small amount of moisture between the frame (ground) and any part that has power to it can provide a current path to ground tripping the GFI. This current is so low that it would not trip a circuit breaker but GFI’s are very sensitive to leakage current.
I do not recommend using a GFI on a fridge which should be on a dedicated 15 amp line.
