Broken door clamp-door stuck closed

OK, If you can believe this one…on my above the counter GE Monogram Microwave, the black plastic clip on “inside” bottom of door got caught on a bracelet as door was closing and the hook part of the clip broke off. Door to micorwave closed and microwave started running by itself without anything being set on it. I could not open door nor stop it from running by pushing any of the buttons on panel, the panel buttons are now unresponsive, so I had to unplug. The door release lever (button) on front panel does not work now as the clip that the lever would push to open is broken off (and, of course, there is a plate of food inside the microwave that I cannot get out since I cannot open the door!)

Is it possible to replace the clip somehow, and if so, how do I even get the door open to repair it?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

The first thing you may want to do is remove the microwave outer case. You will get access to the door latch and will be able to open the door. Inspect the door parts and post the results.
