Oven was manufactured in 1996. Used yesterday no problems. Today the oven will not heat up. The broiler and top burners all work fine. Ignighter glows red hot and broiler flame kicks on when on broil.
I cant find a schemadic for this oven
not sure where or how to test using a multi meter
Although i’ve searched the net for 30 minutes without finding a solution, any help would be much appreciated.
Did you mean the Broil igniter? There is a separate Bake igniter under the oven floor. Did you check it? It should glow when you choose the Bake on the control panel.
Sorry, yes, i ment the “BAKE IGNITER”. Well I replaced the Oven igniter, round style -spliced in the new one and used their ceramic wire nuts. I also tested with a volt meter. When tested with the settings on AC I was getting readings around 124 or 12.4 depending on the switch setting. I had zero when the oven was off and these readings were when the oven was set to bake. Still oven is not working. I noticed a small red plastic valve at the end near the regulator. When this was laid flat the “BROILER” would not come on. When it was pulled perpendicular the “BROILER” fired up after 2 minutes. So I know the gas is flowing. I don’t want to invest in just randomly replacing parts and hate the service $$ from GE and the oven is still not heating up. Any suggestions. ?
Disconnect the Bake igniter and check for 120VAC between the wires to this igniter while the control calls for Bake. Check for continuity between the igniter wires. Post the results.
