Broiler delayed ignition take 2

Brand:ge
Model Number:pgb908sem1ss
Main Symptom:broiler delayed/trouble ignition
What happens & when: Initially, When i turn on broiler hi, it took about 3-4 mins for the gas to light. I would hear a slight puff when it lights and a small gas odor that dissipates.

I took a pic before i did anything. See attached. All appears aligned. I then disconnected the two screws holding the igniter. There is a large hole that appears to not be normal. See attached pic. I cleaned all holes with a paper clip. Then reassembled. Problem still exists but seems to have gotten worse. Now when i turn broiler on high, after a couple minutes i hear a puff, then a minute later another puff, … etc. Please advise.

Your problem is almost certainly the hole in your broiler burner tube ( GE WB16K10004 Range Broil Burner | Genuine OEM Part ), and it needs to be replaced as soon as possible. A damaged burner tube can cause improper flames, poor heating, and may create a safety hazard. While you have the oven apart, I also recommend replacing the broiler igniter ( GE WB13X25261 Range Gas Range Oven Igniter | Genuine OEM Part ) since they’re both easily accessible at the same time.

Here’s how to replace the broiler burner tube and the igniter:

  1. Disconnect power and shut off the gas supply to the range.

  2. Remove the oven racks and the oven bottom panel.

  3. Remove the flame spreader to access the broiler burner assembly.

  4. Disconnect the igniter wiring (you may need to access the connector from the rear of the range if it doesn’t unplug inside the oven).

  5. Remove the mounting screws securing the broiler burner tube and igniter.

  6. Install the new burner tube, transferring any brackets or shields if necessary.

  7. Install the new igniter onto the burner tube, taking care not to touch the carbide tip with your bare fingers.

  8. Reconnect the wiring, reinstall the flame spreader and oven panels, then restore the gas and power.

  9. Test the broil function to verify the burner lights quickly and the flame burns evenly across the entire tube.

It appears the burner tube is no longer available. What do you suggest?

I appreciate your help.

At this point I would suggest doing an internet search and see if any 3rd party vendors stock a replacement
