Bravos 400 Heating fail (Elec)

Hello,

We have a bravos 400 quiet series (agree its not so quiet) that is 4 years old. It services a family of 5 so lots of drying. Recently it abruptly stopped heating altogether. My wife opened it up and cleaned the dryer vent and vacuumed the other stuff in the underbelly. I have been reading the forums, and will take a look at the heating element assembly tomorrow. My question is if the fuse is blown will it be obvious? Any other things to check prior to ordering a new heating element?

First thing to do is to reset the AC panel breaker for the dryer. Sometimes one half of the breaker can trip without tripping the whole thing. If that’s not the problem, then read the tech sheet and go into diagnostic mode to check for error codes. If the dryer runs but won’t heat, it’s not the thermal fuse. Could be the thermal cutoff, hi limit thermostat, open heat element, faulty control board, faulty motor switch or faulty thermistor.

So No error codes on the Diagnostic test. Moving to test #4.

So, After reading through the tech sheet I ended up @ Test #4. Test #4 lead me to removing the drum only because it made it easier to get to the heat unit. The thermo circuits tested out fine as did all wiring leading to the heat unit. I also checked the plug and it was fine as well. The failure was in the heater coil. Complete crack through the coil on the underneath. Part well be ordered momentarily. Thanks for all the help. This is an Awesome Site for Harry Homeowner especially in these tough financial times.
