Brand: JennAir
Model Number: JMC2430DS01
Main Symptom: After installing a new control panel, the microwave should prompt me to select the model number but that message doesn’t appear. Instead I get an error code.
What happens & when:
Error Code (if any): F6E6
Parts or tests already tried: Originally the error was F2E1 stuck key so I ordered a new control panel assembly (W10887850). After installing the part, I get the F6E6 error code. After investigating the issue I see that the part that was shipped is (W10855926). See photo. After researching on line I find that this part is NOT compatible with my microwave and is designed for specific built-in microwave/wall oven combinations. Appliance Pros told me that there is no error code F6E6 associated with my microwave part number but yet I get it. A google search of that error code with my microwave part number says “this indicates a communication failure or lost connection between the main Appliance Control Unit (ACU) and the user interface/touch panel assembly.” Not sure why Appliance Pros tell me it is not a valid code for my microwave.

W10855926 and W10887850 are the same part, W10855926 subs to W10887850 but you are just as likely to get one or the other from the factory. That being said, those are both for the black color code model of this appliance and you gave a stainless color code, so what you actually need for the control panel is W11229663 if you’re going to replace the console.
If you still have your original console, there was a service pointer about the user interface board in there being loose and causing F2E1, which may be fixable without replacing the console. I’ve attached that below.

Finally, the reason they didn’t know about the F6E6 is because it isn’t listed in the tech sheet or the service manual and your model isn’t supposed to have it. Instead you should be seeing F6E8 if there was a communication issue. Usually, if you’re seeing F6E6 on the microwave instead of F6E8, that means that the wrong model has been selected during initial programming. That’s alot easier to do than most people realize because so many JennAir model #s are so similar. F6E6 is supposed to be present on double ovens or microwave oven combos, but not individual microwaves.
If you decide you still want to replace the control panel, that new control panel should still work, even though the color code is different. You’ll need to go into diagnostic mode and change the model #, which can get a little complicated depending on what model was selected.
Here’s the tech sheet for this model.

Thanks very much Jeffrey for responding so quickly and I will look at the 2 documents you attached. I am still confused though because the research I did clearly says that W10855926 is not compatible with my model of microwave. I copied the response I received from my online search below. My microwave is a standalone unit and not part of a combo with a wall oven.
Whirlpool part W10887850 is not the same as W10855926
. While both parts are genuine OEM black microwave control panels manufactured by Whirlpool, they have different dimensions, button layouts, and compatibility lists.
Key Differences
- W10855926 (replaced by W11356253) is designed for specific built-in microwave/wall oven combinations.
- W10887850 is explicitly a standalone microwave control panel. It replaces older part numbers like W10524521 and W10875269 and fits models such as the JennAir JMC2430 series.
Because these control panels look very similar from the front but have entirely different internal ribbon cable connectors and mounting clips, they cannot be swapped.
That’s my bad, I did the research on this one and pasted the original part # W10875269 when doing my search at the same time I was searching W10855926. W10875269 and W10887850 would be the same part. My apologies. Please contact our customer service team at 1-877-477-7278 about the incorrect control panel that was sent to you.
Ok thanks Rory. That clears up the disconnect between what you said and my online research.
I would like to try the F2E1 servicepointer fix that Jeffrey sent but that pdf discusses F6E6 and F6E8 error and doesn’t have my microwave model listed on page 1. Can you send the correct servicepointer pdf for the F2E1 fix.
I really appreciate it.
