Brand: Bosh Model Number: SHX4ATF5UC/21 Main Symptom: cycle won’t drain water What happens & when: dish washer drains at the beginning of the cycle, but not the end
Error Code (if any): E25
Parts or tests already tried: installed a new drain motor which I purchased from APP.com

E25 error code and soapy water in bottom of machine. Replaced drain pump. Reset washer and ran the 1min drain cycle, which worked just fine and drained the unit, so there is no issue with the pump, flap valve or drain line (no garbage disposal either). However, when I run a wash cycle, short or long, at the end the machine seems to think about draining, stops, shuts off and beeps to indicate the load is done. But the base is full of soapy water. I can only assume its the controler board??? Apparently it didn’t drain during the cycle or the water at the end would be clean?
Hi, I ordered the main control board from the link shared with me. I installed it and am confident that all the wires were attached properly. I set the washer to run a short cycle (1:15). It appeared to operate correctly however at about 10 minutes it stopped and beeped to indicate it was done. When I opened it I found that there was no water (yea), that the dish detergent door had not opened, there was residual heat in the unit (warm air) and it threw an error code of E:01. From the web I see E:01 is a heater issue, but there was heat in the unit - maybe from hot water? Now I am really perplexed. Was I suspose to reset the unit? I appreciate your thoughts.
So, it has gone from not draining to not filling? Did it ever put water in this last time? We still don’t know if it is draining or not putting water in at the start?
Prior to my earlier message I ran the unit and the washer acted and sounded like it was going thru a normal wash. I could hear the water being sprayed in the unit and it also drained. But it didn’t run a full cycle and threw the E:01 error. I just re-ran the unit on the short (1:15min) cycle. It seemed to run normally but at 20 min, it stopped. This time it didn’t drain and threw the E:25 error code.
Additionally, today I initiated a full cycle run. The unit ran for 7 minutes before beeping to indicate it was done. There had been water in the unit, the unit was warm and drained. It threw a E:01 error code. What do you think?
It acts like it is not detecting a rise in temperature. Put a thermometer in the rack, notice the temperature at the start of the wash and then at the time it stops, there should be a temperature rise.
I put a wireless thermometer in the unit and ran it on a full cycle mode. You can see the temprature graph in the image below. Last time I ran at full cycle mode the unit stopped at about 20 minutes. Today it stopped just short of 60 minutes, threw an E:25 error and left water in the bottom of the unit. I could hear water draining and water running earlier in the cycle so ‘washing’ part of the cycle seems to work, as well as the drain pump, to a point. And then it fails.
Ignore the target temp in the blue circle, that was a setting on the thermometer I had to set. The internal temp is what was actully read inside of the dishwasher.
The water going into the DW should be around 120 deg. or higher to start with. If the temp is too low, the DW will eventually time out because it cannot raise the temperature to a high enough temperature to safely clean the dishes. If I am reading this graph correctly, the temp starts at less than 100 degrees? and only goes up to 130 ? This is a dumb question but I need to ask, is the water line attached to a hot water source?
Hi Daivd, this is an excellent question. So the answer is yes, it is connected to the hot water line. But this is where it gets interesting. I replaced the hotwater heater a couple of months ago and I did turn the temp on it down to about 120 on the HW heater to save $. I can’t remember if this was before or after the DW started to act up. So I have turned but the heat on the HW heater to 120+ and am running a cycle. I’ll let you know if it completes!
Hi David, I ran it on a long cycle and as it had done previously it stopped at just under one hour (56 min or so). Water in the bottom and a E:25 error. I ran it again on the long cycle, this time with the thermometer so I could capture the temprature. This time it ran for about 3 min, stopped, E:25, water in the bottom. The temp in the unit only got to about 100. I also ran the kitchen sink tap, which is the line the dishwasher is on, and took a measurement of the water temprature at the tap, which was 121 degrees. I though we had figured it out but maybe not!
If the water at the sink is 122 deg. But the water in the tub after any length of time is cooler, the heater is not heating the water. When the water first goes into the tub, it should be the same as it is at the sink; is that true? If it is, then the heating system has failed; that is why it is throwing the error code. Since you replaced the main control, the heat pump is all that is left. 00705174 Pump And Motor Assembly | Genuine Bosch OEM In Stock, the heater is built into the pump.
Hi Dave, the graph of temprature certainly tells that story, water starts out about 120 but dropped to 115 when the unit stopped. I’ll order the pump. Thanks!
