We have a Bosch SHU3306UC/UC12 dishwasher. We accidentally opened the door while it was in the middle of its cycle and now it is messed up. When you try to run any of the 3 cycles, you just hear a motor running (I think it’s the drain motor) and that’s all that happens. It will just sit like that indefinitely until you turn it off. The reason I think it’s the drain motor running is because if I fill the bottom of the dishwasher with water before shutting it and starting the cycle, it will immediately drain the water and then just sit there again with the motor running. No water ever gets pumped into the washer because when I open the door, it is always dry. All the indicator lights act normal as if it was working properly, but the cycle just never starts.
What should I do first? I have tried starting each cycle and then cancelling it by pushing and holding the 2 outside buttons, which makes the Clean light come on, but nothing changes. The drain motor just keeps going. As I said above, I tried filling the bottom of the washer with water thinking maybe it would reset if it actually drained some water, but that didn’t work either.
I did a test procedure by holding the 2 outside buttons as I turned it on and got the flashing lights. Then, I pushed the 2 outside buttons again to start the test and the light above Regular Wash immediately comes on. So that might give you a clue.
I can’t believe just opening the door during a cycle could mess it up like this. This happened once before, but the dishwasher fixed itself after starting it a few times. However, it is not fixing itself this time.
I looked in the manual and of course it only says how to cancel a cycle BEFORE you open the door. It doesn’t say anything about if you open the door without canceling.
I read on another website that the water level float being stuck could cause this, but I don’t know how opening the door during a cycle could cause this.
I would just like to note that the dishwasher has worked perfect and had no problems before opening the door during the cycle.
It’s amazing how Bosch could build junk like this and sell it as “high end”. Mine did the same thing…stupid me, I thought I could open the door during a cycle..hey, they must do things different in Germany. Now my display is blank and I have to duct tape the door shut since the lock now malfunctions. Oh yeah..and the dispenser doesnt work either, but I get around that by just throwing in some detergent before I start the wash.
Hey and if I forget, just pull off the duct tape at anytime, since there is no lock to fool with anymore. Other than those insignificant drawbacks it cleans dishes great!!! Even beeps at the end to let me know it’s finished. Who could ask for anything more…Oh yeah…and the display doesn’t work either, except for the leetle dot above the “delay start” button. Now you just power it up and it’s starts doing..well what ever it does, who knows???
I’m having the same problem with our Bosch dishwasher. After opening the door during a cycle it seems to just keep draining and won’t reset. Did you find a fix?
Our model number is SHE58C05UC/47. I’ve tried using the Cancel option, powering the dishwasher off at the breaker, and opening the black panel at the bottom and checking for water underneath. Nothing fixes it.
I think I posted the fix. Does it not shut, like the magnetic lock is not working now? Are all the lights out, but it will run and clean a load of dishes? (Heck I just taped the door shut and used it till I found the problem.) If that’s the problem your latch is still closed with the door open and it just "bumps against it’s catch instead of “locking” around it. Hence that’s why the door won’t stay closed and the lights are out. It thinks it’s running. Someone else posted another idea and I can’t remember it, it may be attached to this post.
My idea was to remove the door cover and you can see the spring loaded latch which is pretty strong. Think I took a screwdriver and got it to “flip” open. This fixes everything. Let me know if this is the problem you’re having… Yeah, seemed like mine would drain.
I’m having the same problem as louis55. The door works fine but all the dishwasher does is continually pump but never starts a cycle or finishes draining.
one of the major pluses to this brand is that it has a built in drip pan and float. unfortunatly if there is enough water in the pan and the float lifts the machine will go in to and stay in a drain mode. i realize it seems a bit too coincidential but opening the door may have happened as the float lifted. check the pan and see if you have water there. if so using a shop vac set-up for wet and suck all the water out. check the float for travel up and down. if need be lift and push the float up and down. this may be allow you to use the dishwasher for a while. you need to identify where the leak is actualy coming from. often the wash pump seal is the culprit. if so i recomend replacing the motor and pump as an assembly, less chance of leaks. part # is Part Details - BOSCH Circulation pump, part number: AP2826384.
the other hassel with this brand is you will have to un-install the dishwasher, flip the dishwasher upside down and remove the springs and the draqin pan. let me know if that helps any
I can’t find a link confirming how to get it into test mode, but I think turning the dishwasher on whilst holding Auto Wash and Delicate /Econo (they are marked as Cancel Drain on the panel). When I do that the top LCD screen shows “C4” and the front LCD screen says “P0”.
Looking at the internet it seems to indicate that an error code 4 is a filling fault? For some reason I can’t post links here.
That might make sense as the test program doesn’t seem to do anything other than try to drain? I will kill the power again and will try to feel around for any water in the base.
Unfortunately my dishwasher is affixed to our units with star shaped screws so I couldn’t easily get it out to look at it.
I had an engineer come around today and fix this. He said the float needed to be reset, and he fixed it in about 5 minutes without even sliding out the dishwasher.
I asked him how the float is reset, and he said it is done electronically with a special tool they have.
I was charged $127 for the repair job, which came as a bit of a surprise as I wasn’t expecting it to come to a lot more than the call-out fee, which is $40. I’d be interested to know if resetting the float really does require a special tool, or if this is something I could have done myself… Does anybody know?
my daughter opened the door mid-cycle (pretty dangerous that this is even possible, she’s 2 and just burnt my face instead of her own) and we’ve had issues getting the dw to start since. it would process, drain, use the motor for a second, then beep that it was done with the cycle.
i came here and read the suggestion to shop-vac out the water (there was very little and it wasn’t noticeable until i took out the drain). i’m currently way further into a test cycle and think the problem is FIXED!
thanks for saving us the cost of a repairman - and better yet the cost of a new dw as i was tired of trying to find someone to work on a bosch in our area!!
Opening the door mid cycle can allow water past the door bottom seal. This will flood the bottom tray which has a safety float switch. Once activated, the aquastop activates and water pump may activate. Solution: pull the dishwasher out. From the left side bottom, pull back the insulation and dry the sides with paper towels. You will see a circular styrofoam float switch. I like to disconnect the switch and remove the float for drying. While you’re there, feel the aquastop at the back for wetness as a leaking aquastop can flood the insides as well. slightly dirty water suggests it came from the door. inspect your door seals as well.
