Brand: Bosch
Model Number: SHPM65W55N/11
Main Symptom: Buttons not responsive, pump runs continuously
What happens & when: Back on May 11, the unit suddenly (while it was supposed to be off), started running the pump continuously. It was not in cycle and there is no water in the pan. Pushing on/off or any button had no effect. There is nothing on the LED display except for a blinking sanitize led. Turning off the breaker for any amount of time did not reset or improve the issue. I did some research and was told the issue was common for a control board failure. I ordered a the Bosch 11031054 OEM control module and it was received and installed into the unit on 5/14. It fixed the issue and the unit has been performing flawlessly on a daily basis. Until today 6/3…
Now the unit is doing the exact same thing as before. It was not running a cycle and it suddenly started running the pump continuously with no water in there. Buttons don’t work, nothing on display (I forgot to check if the sanitize led was blinking). I shut off the power at the breaker and reached out to Appliance Pros customer support for what I thought was a failure of the part I had ordered and installed. They are saying I should should have replaced the Main Board instead and there was probably nothing wrong with the control module. They couldn’t explain why replacing the control module fixed the issue before and suggested I reach out to the forum. So, I’m looking for guidance on whether this makes any sense. If I need to replace the Main board, why did the control module replacement fix the issue the past 3 weeks?
Update: After leaving the breaker off for an hour I turned it back on and now the unit seems to be functioning properly.
Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Error Code (if any): No error code

What you’re describing does not automatically point to a bad control module or a bad main board.
The symptom of:
-
Drain pump running continuously
-
Unit not in a cycle
-
Buttons unresponsive
-
Blank display (possibly with a blinking Sanitize LED)
-
Sometimes recovering after power has been removed for an extended period
is often what Bosch dishwashers do when they believe there is a flood/leak condition.
A few thoughts:
Why did replacing the control module appear to fix it?
A few possibilities:
-
The original control module actually was faulty.
-
The act of replacing the board reset the system.
-
During the repair, power was disconnected for a long period.
-
Connectors were unplugged/reseated.
-
Any trapped moisture may have dried out.
-
The fault condition may have cleared temporarily.
-
There is an underlying issue that eventually triggers the same fault again.
-
Water intermittently reaching the base pan.
-
A sticking float switch.
-
Wiring/connectivity issue.
-
A failing main control board.
Why I’m hesitant to blame the main board immediately
If the main board were the sole cause, I’d expect the problem to become progressively worse or remain present.
The fact that:
suggests an intermittent condition, not necessarily a completely failed board.
What I would check next
-
Pull the dishwasher out and inspect the base pan.
-
Check the float/flood switch assembly.
-
Look for evidence of leaks.
-
Door seal.
-
Sump seal.
-
Diverter area.
-
Drain hose.
-
Water inlet valve.
-
Check for stored error codes.
- If an error code shows up, it usually points to a specific cause that can be tested.
The most telling clue
The fact that the dishwasher started working again after being powered off for an hour is a major clue. A truly failed control board usually doesn’t “heal” itself with an hour-long power reset. Moisture drying out, a stuck switch releasing, or an intermittent electronic fault are all more consistent with that behavior.
My opinion
I would not order a main board yet.
Before spending more money, I’d inspect the base pan and flood switch system. On Bosch dishwashers, continuous drain pump operation with a dead user interface is very commonly associated with the machine believing there’s a leak/flood condition, even when there is no visible water inside the tub.
