Bosch dishwasher won't start: error E6101

Brand: Bosch
Model Number: SHE53C85N/25
Main Symptom: Error code, dishwasher stopping 5 seconds into cycle, status lights lit up (solid)
What happens & when:

I have a Bosch SHE53C85N/25 dishwasher, just over a year old.

In December, I had a ‘water leak’ error (according to the Bosch app)

There was standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher (triggering the float sensor).

I replaced the sump to water inlet hose AP4483460, ordered from APP.

That cleared the error.

Dishwasher functioned normally for a few weeks, and now:

  • About 5 seconds after start, dishwasher stops

  • The vertical line of status lights lit up (solid)

  • Bosch HomeConnect app says E6101: Drain pump error

I have confirmed there are no obstructions in the drain hose. (There was a little water in it, maybe about 4 oz, which I *think* is normal?) I cleared the water.

There was a small amount (2-3 oz) of water in the filter/impeller area, which I removed. I cleaned the filters (though there was no notable clog) and confirmed the impeller is spinning freely, and that there’s no debris in there.

The error persists. What would you recommend?

Error Code (if any): E6101

With getting a drain error, check to make sure that there is power to the pump when it calls to drain. If there is 120 vac then the pump is faulty and would need to be replaced. Make sure to pull the pump as well and check the impeller for damage.

Thank you! Do you have a video or simple instructions on how to pull the pump? (And how to test it? I have a multimeter, just not sure exactly where to put it to test the pump).

Here is a video on how to access and replace the pump.

With testing, once you access the pump you will need to test for 120 vac at the 2 wires on the drain pump with the drain pump operational. If there is 120 vac but the drain pump is not running then it will be faulty.

I received the new pump today from APP, thank you for the quick ship! (Figured if I’m going to go to the trouble to disassemble everything I’ll just replace it.

The question I have is how to get the lower panel off. The metal kickplate is, of course, easy, but behnd that thre’s a plastic panel, and mine is differnet from what the video shows. (I have a 300 series). How do I get it off? It has just four very small holes in the front. Two are over the feet, and two are closer to the middle of the front. I tried a T10 (the smallest I have) but it didn’t seem like there are torx screws in there… but I don’t know.

if you can tell me how to remove that on this model, I’d really appreciate it!

There should be 2 screws, one on each side that you will remove and then you can tilt the dishwasher back a little and pull down to be able to reach your arm in to get the drain pump out.

All set. Replaced the drain pump and all appears to be running as it should. Thank you for all of your great support and FAST shipping—APP is the best!
