Bosch Dishwasher SHE65T55UC/01 Keeps Over Filling with Water (E-15 Error Code)

Brand: Bosch
Model Number: SHE65T55UC/01
Main Symptom: Water Overfilling, Flooding causing E-15 Error Code
What happens & when: see below

Error Code (if any): E-15
Parts or tests already tried: Already replaced the water inlet valve. Problem persists.

Dishwasher now does the following after pressing start:

  1. drains residual water fine,
  2. fills with some water, stops filling,
  3. does something I don’t know what (I assume circulation pump runs for some reason),
  4. starts filling again, stops filling,
  5. does something I don’t know what (I assume circulation pump runs for some reason),
  6. starts filling again and this time never stops and overfills and water goes to the “dishwasher overflow tube” and keep filling until I turn the machine off with the power button. I then turn the power back on, notice it continues to try and fill, so I press and hold the start button to reset and that begins to drain the water.

I’ve already replaced the water inlet valve because it’s description said it fixes problems like this. However, the problem persists.

I can’t find the service manual online, so I ask:

  1. Do you have the service manual to check? I assume yes.
  2. What tells the water inlet valve to stop? I would have assumed the Control Module tells the water inlet valve to stop, but someone on “diychatroom” wrote “2 minutes into any cycle, the water overflows into the base and generates the E15 alarm. I replaced the 9000727504 controller which did not solve the issue.” Bosch 500 SHE65T55UC will not stop filling | DIY Home Improvement Forum So if the control module does not solve the problem, what will solve the problem?
  3. Could it be a Turbidity Sensor failure? Does the turbidity sensor also try and sense how much water is in the dishwasher somehow? I suspect no, but I see no evidence of any other sensors.

You can use this service manual here.

Bosch 2013 Dishwasher Service Manual for the GV640A Platform 58300000170749.pdf (5.4 MB)

Thank you. I’ve read the whole manual. My understanding is that there is no water level sensor; filling water and draining water cycles are by time. The manual says there are “two control modules, an operating module (with display, lights & buttons) in the fascia (control) panel and a power module in the base on the right side. The power module controls the BLDC drain and heat pumps.“ And since your website (00744911 Control Unit | Genuine Bosch OEM In Stock) says “Symptoms of a bad control unit include: The dishwasher failing to […] run cycles properly” I will order the operating module and see how it goes. I will let you know later if it worked.

That didn’t work so now I think it is the heat pump. The service manual you gave me says "While water is being circulated, the BLDC (Brushless DC) motor senses the pump status based on the current (amp) draw of the
motor windings:
• No water
• Too little water (cavitating)
• Proper water level
• Pump blockage

So since it senses proper water level that must be it.

Also, when I run the “customer service program” instructions from the service manual you gave me, when it is supposed to circulate water it doesn’t do it, it just spits a little water but apparently doesn’t have enough power to spin the spray arms.

Do you agree it must be the heat pump?

It works! I replaced the “Circulation Motor And Heater Assembly”, what I had called the “heat pump”. Thank you Appliance Parts Pros for helping me find a service manual to help me fix the problem.
