I am sorry not to be familiar with the way your website deals with questions, but the first topic window, which I filled out above, would not allow me to type anything about the problem.
As the topic sez, the dishwasher won’t start , and the panel lights are all on. The pump works and is on until power is shut off at the breaker. Bosch says this is caused by water in the base pan, which must be emptied. Other sites have mentioned pulling out the machine, which seems to be too big for the opening it needs to move through, then tip it to temporarily drain the water in the pan. At some point, the float needs to be examined to make sure it moves freely. It looks like the only way to access the pan is to remove the two toe plates. In the photos below, I’m showing page 13 of the install manual, to show the shape of part K. The next two photos show the toe panel on my machine, with the K parts coming through the holes in the panel. Which are too small to remove the panel. And, yes, the outer toe panel has already been remove, the two screws attaching through the holes on the K part.
My questions are 1) How do I access the base pan, and 2) did the machine come from Bosch like this, or did the installer “make a mistake”? Can anybody help? Does anybody make a good applaince anymore? Do the engineers who design these have any ethics? Adking for a friend…
To access the base pan, float and other parts in the base you will need to remove the machine from its installed possition so you canlay it on its back to get the base pan off.
Thanks, Brad. It is unbelieveable to me that google says,
“To access the base pan of your Bosch dishwasher, you must remove the toe panel (kickplate) at the very bottom front of the machine. All modern Bosch dishwashers are designed so that the internal components and the safety base tray can be inspected from the front without pulling the entire machine out from under the counter.”
To me, this is reasonable; are you suggesting the other way because the Inner Metal Shield (Barrier Plate) that I think I’ve shown in the photos cannot be removed? I can certainly remove the torx screws, but due to the size of the K part, the barrier plate cannot come off of those. Have you ever seen anything like this? Is this the way Bosch designed this machine? It seems that the only way the plate can be in the position it is in is for the installer to have put the plate onto the K parts before they were on the machine, then attached the K parts onto the machine, which seems to be as cumbersome as it is wrong.
Please let me know what you think.
I don’t rely much on google…etc and some manufactures do recommend the removal from the installed position in order to access certain components for repair.
Thanks, Brad. I may have to do this, although I really don’t want to. It looks like the space to remove the machine is smaller than the rubber surround, which, again, is possibly due to faulty installation. If I can’t get it started tomorrow, I’ll lower the legs and figure out a way to pull it out. Of course, if there’s no water in the pan, I’ll be really pissed at bosch!
