My Bosch DW is giving me grief…again! A brief history is as follows:
- purchased in 1999
- replaced controller (PN 266746) in 2001
- replaced controller again in late 2004
This morning I discovered that the DW had been perpetually draining since last night when I ran the regular wash cycle.
I ran the diagnostics that I found on this site. The result was a ‘code 4’ or failed water level switch. I also tried running the ‘Rinse and Hold’ cycle. The indicator stayed on 10 minutes and it continued to drain.
This morning I checked the plastic pan below the tub. It was dry.
Question:
Is this DW worth saving if I have to have a level switch and possibly another controller installed?
The appliance repair company I would use charges $25 every 15 minutes plus another $100 for the service call. In 2004 they charged me $200 for the controller (I suspect it will be at least $250 today) and I don’t know how much the level switch costs.
If you can give me any feedback regarding the cost and estimated repair time to fix this puppy, I would be grateful.
Cheers!
