I few weeks ago my blower motor, while AC was on, sounded louder than normal. I pulled the blower assembly, cleaned unit, reinstalled and it did not make a difference. I did notice during disassembly that there was oil on the motor shaft and that the shaft moved slightly in and out of the motor housing. I figure that I now need to replace the motor. Where is the best place to purchase one of these motors with all the attachments for my Lenox Elite Series furnice?
You could get the exact replacement and pay some serious money or go with a generic with the same speed horse power and amp rating. Even if you bought the exact one you might still get a generic with new instructions. Most motors are wired standard which means black is high, blue is medium and red is low. 2 brown wires are connected to a small capacitor. They will also have a way to reverse the motor. clever ain’t it? These motors with the capacitor use half as much power as the old shaded pole motors of the past. If your old motor has wings welded on it you can buy adapters to make up for that as well. Take the motor to an HVAC parts store and let them match it up with a generic. save yerselfa ton of money. YouTube has several nice videos from people who took the time to show you how so check that out.
