I set my oven to preheat at 400 and a few minutes later I saw a very bright light coming from the oven and looked to see a flare like bright fire coming from the bake element near the back of the oven. By the time I could react it was already out and all the displays on the stove top were out and not functioning. The stove top elements still work but the clock and all oven buttons do nothing. Needless to say the oven no longer works. Looks like the element split open and sprayed out some type of chemical. The main fuse from my circuit box did not trip.
Are there internal fuses that need to be replaced along with a new bake element? I hope that is all I need to do.
Thanks for any help help you can give. FEFL79DSD ES340 Electric Range
Do the hot surface and element on indicator lamps for the stove top elements work?
If yes then the odds are that when the oven element blew it also blew the control board.
If no then slowly shut the breaker off/on , sometimes you can loose half the line without tripping the breaker.
Be sure that either the bad element has been replaced or disconnected. If disconnected make sure that the element wires/connectors cannot short to each other or the frame.
You should be able to replace it.
Look like you just remove the back cover to get at it.
Looks like it is item 20 in the Blackguard Parts section.
You may also need a new overlay.
It is self stick, sometimes they come off OK by heating them with a hair dryer but often they get ruined.
Be sure to unplug the stove when working on it.
Also mark or make yourself a diagram or take a picture so you know where the wires go on the board.
Thanks for the response. I have ordered the 2 parts and see if that fixes the stove. Noticed some burn on the control board so I suspect you are right on the money with your diagnosis.
I will let you know once I replace the parts.
I have had this Frigidaire stove 4 years and 1 element had to be replaced and now the stove. My frigidaire fridge lasted 3 years before the compressor blew. Not a brand I will buy again.
