Amana Refrigerator Always running

My Amana fridge (bottom freezer) is always running. The evaporator fan in the freezer is always running as well, and the evaporator coils are not frosted over. Freezer and fridge both feel good and cold but I haven’t taken a temperature reading.

Any ideas?

Are the evaporator coils completely clean or they are covered with some thin snow?

Remove the cover on the back of the refrigerator and clean the condenser coils.

Measure the temperature in both compartments using a mercury thermometer and post the results.

The evap coils have a very thin frosting on them, but not really noticeable unless you put your head in the freezer and get in close.

Ill measure the temps here shortly and post them up.

I did notice that the cover on the lower back part of the fridge is missing. I think it deteriorated over time and eventually fell apart. Is it possible that this is causing the problem?

Yes, it is possible because it is affecting the cooling air flow in the compressor compartment.

This cover is no longer available but you make it from a piece of cardboard. Look at the cover shown on the diagram and use it as a sample.
