I just bought a home with an Amana side by side and the ice maker seems to have been working since we moved in but has now stopped. I suspect it may be the pump or a valve but want to feel more confident before I purchase parts. The white rubber tube coming in the top right of the freezer was clearly frozen and I thawed it with a hot towel and hit it with a hairdryer along with the back where it enters the freezer but nothing has changed. The ice maker seems to be working, periodically when I open it I can see the mechanism rotating as if it were going to eject ice and the metal bar rises then goes back down.
Any other troubleshooting I should do before purchasing parts? The water dispenser works fine. One other things is it is a counter depth model and it is built into a cubby in the cabinets and when I pulled it out I noticed there was quite a bit of condensation on the back of the unit and mildew on the wall behind it, not sure if these are related to my issue but the condensation goes up the back along the ice make supply line.
Sounds like the problem is a bad water inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator. You probably defrost only part of the water line into the ice maker. There is a piece inside the freezer too.
If you need the correct part number for the water inlet valve, post the manufacturing number (starts with “P”) which is next to the model number.
