I have an amana dishwasher. The door latch has been very stiff to open. I finally got the door open, now it won’t lock when you close the door. What’s the problem?

If this is a cabinet, built in, dishwasher, then use a wooden spoon/fork and slip between cabinet and dishwasher, directly above the dishwasher latch handle, and gently lift up on the wooden spoon, this should open dishwasher door…
