Stackable washer and dryer. The dryer works fine, the washer timer now works (was recently replaced), so it fills and drains properly, however during the wash cycle the agitator and the tub do not spin, and the tub does not spin during the rinse cycle. The agitator spins freely - I took it off to make sure that it was not stripped and it is fine. I assume it is a belt issue or perhaps the tension arm snapped, but I’m curious if it may be electronic in nature. I am asking for thoughts as I recently had back surgery and do not want to drag the machine out of the closet to gain access to the back panel. Thanks!
We need you to clarify things. It sounds like the washer does agitate during the rinse cycle, and spin after the agitation and draining in the was cycle? If this is the case, then it seems like the machine is ok mechanically and the problem is with the new timer.
Let us know, and in the meantime here is a service manual for your Frigidaire built, GE labeled machine. It should enable you to do some troubleshooting.
Ran it again, machine does not spin/agitate at all, during any cycle, and while running it started to smoke. Cracked it open and belt it fine, looks like the motor is shot.
