admiral washing machine spin out

20 month old washer, will not spin or evacuate remaining water in basket. this happened in mid cycle so it did evacuate all but 2" of the water and then stopped, it does not make any noise, does not try to start or spin. i checked the safety switch by bypassing it and still nothing, i assume this then indicates a faulty timer but would like your opinion. unit has less than 200 washes thru it, did i get a lemon or are they all junk?

This is actually a Whirlpool direct drive washer, which is a pretty good machine and not a lemon. It is a machine I would buy.

I would remove the cabinet and pull off the pump. Check to see if you have an obstruction in there. If not, by pass the lid switch and see if the motor is running in the spin mode. If it is not running, take it off and see if it turns when removed from the transmission.

Let us know what you find out. This should be fixable and is worth doing.

I already checked the pump and it is clear. machine buzzes during spin and drain cycle. How do I by pass the lid switch to check the motor?

Thanks for the help. I think this older machine ought to last better than the fancy new ones, but if it is an expensive repair I may need to weigh my options and consider another washer. Thoughts?
Thanks
